Happy Tuesday! I hope you had a fabulous Canada Day weekend- and to our friends in the USA, we hope you enjoy the upcoming 4th of July celebrations! I don’t know about where you live, but for me, even though it’s been HOT for a while, it finally feels like summer is here! There is nothing aquatic about this card, except the shades of green & blue… but I’ve definitely been inspired by time spent at the pool!
I started with creating a mixed media panel in simple black & white- collaged torn book paper, stamps & washi tape are the base, with a rough layer of texture paste through a Tim Holtz stencil. After the panel was dry, I trimmed it to size and added some color with Distress Oxide, Distress Stain Spray splatters and some Nuvo Glitter glaze smooshed across the surface… I added more details with some dots of assorted Nuvo products and a bit of pearly splatter as well. A layer of black card stock gives a strong contrast to draw the eyes in. Since there was so much great texture, I wanted a simple focal point. Tim Holtz’s black & white paper dolls are great for this, with just a bit of black shadowing to the left of them. A simple ‘thank you’ sentiment finishes off the card!
Here’s a couple close ups…
I just love all the textures and the simple black design underneath it all! I pulled out my fave wooden block script stamp for some flourish (It’s probably nearly 20 years old!) and added some newer designs I hadn’t inked yet, a fun set of collage images by Ken Oliver. I’ll be back to add to this post some product links, but this was really all about using stuff I had to make something new & fun. I hope you like it! (If you need something new to inspire you, I see that a bunch of great Finnabair products are 50% in the shop right now! Check out this awesome butterfly stamp for starters…)
Have a fabulous week!
Inky hugs,
Tara
